How to Find High PR Backlinks

I’m not claiming to have made this method, but I’m just sharing it because it has been very useful for me.

When I first got into SEO and was creating blogs, I was at a loss when it came to finding backlinks.  I jumped around various forums and looked for any info I could find on backlinks.  I didn’ t find much for a couple of days, but finally came across Angela’s backlinks.  Angela’s backlinks is a paid service (a couple bucks a month) which sends you a packet of backlinks month after month.  This was great, but I quickly ran through the backlinks and was hard up for more.  Next I found a service called Paul’s backlinks.  It is almost exactly the same as Angela’s backlinks, but he provides more and charges a little more.

Long story short, I ran through those links as well.  I did some more searching and found a forum post (I cannot remember where), but this guy had a system for finding backlinks by spying on Angela’s marketing articles.  This got me to thinking… What if I reverse engineered these link packets?  I know that other people were doing the same thing, and I guess I came to my conclusions along the same path that they had.

Here is the best way that I have found to find these links:

  1. Download and install SEO Quake’s toolbar (plugin for Mozilla Firefox)
  2. Query something like this, “powered by PunBB” into the search engine (find these at the bottom of the page)
    1. Note, you can also query any other footprint that these sites have (a consistency).
  3. You will see a search results page of domains that are running this PunBB (for this example)
    1. Also try advanced search features and use a higher number of returned results (i.e.: 100 results – Warning, this may get your IP banned if you return too many results).
  4. Sort by PR with the SEO Quake plugin (make sure it is checked on the bottom right of the screen.
  5. There you go!  You have some places you can posts profile links at.
