Google Update – What A Marketer Can Learn From It
Notice anything different about Google today? They changed things up a bit and made their left side bar no-longer an optional pop-out. Apparently they also changed their logo, which I didn’t even notice until someone said something about it.
If you are new on the scene with Internet marketing, then you are probably noticing a lot of marketers going frantic over the changes. Questions on forums usually pop up about SEO and possible changes with rankings.
What you shouldn’t do right now, is buy into the people who have a negative outlook on new changes like these.
What you should do is try to learn as much as you can about the new features. Here are a few things that you might want to look at no matter what type of marketing you are involved with.
Predict The Visitors Intent:
Something interesting about the left sidebar that you should pay special attention to is the fact that it has specific categories that appear based on the intent of the keyword. These categories include: Images, Video, Shopping, and more.
Let’s take a quick look and see what we can learn…
When we type in the word “dog” and we immediately see:
Images, Maps, Videos, News, Books, etc… (take a look for yourself)
So we can assume that people searching for dogs are looking for:
-images (of course)
-maps: perhaps local dog services (grooming, training, etc…)
-videos: (entertainment, training, etc…)
-you get the idea
Now lets search a bit deeper and see what we find.
How about a more specific term like: “puppy potty training tips”
What do we see? – Just video shows up. See…
So if you were targeting that keyword, it might be wise to put some effort into marketing through videos.
I hope you take a look at the new Google update (it’s kind of hard to miss – lol) and find something new that you didn’t know about your niche.
I’m sure I will find more interesting finds with this update… so stay tuned.
