Buyer Beware

Shut Up And Buy Your WSO

Many people are not going to like this, but I don’t really care.  Yesterday, I had to open my eyes again to the scams that take place in Internet marketing.  And once again, places like WarriorForum.com proved to be bad places for any form of Internet marketer to learn and expand their business.

A day or so ago, I picked up a WSO which I won’t name out of courtesy.  I read through this thing and by the end I had a few thoughts in my head:

  • That was a lot of hype and fuss over really nothing
  • I remembered seeing a blogger post that same method publicly on his blog about a year ago
  • I wasn’t sure if I should tell other potential buyers about what I knew…

And that last point is what drove me into an interesting turn of events.

You see… I actually did go share my experience over at Warrior Forum.  After posting my review, someone was quick to try to discredit my review.  I chose to go find that blog post from a year ago and share it on the sales thread.  After all, I don’t like to start fights, but I do really care about a few things in Internet marketing.  First off, I am in this business to make money.  That’s not really related lol.  Second, I have friends and business partners in this industry.  Whenever I find a bad product, I send a review via email about it so that my friends don’t get ripped off.  Doing that review via email on a regular basis actually made me start this blog.

But that is all really just back story to show you were I’m coming from here.

Needless to say, Warrior Forum was not very happy that I had posted an informed negative review with a link justifying my point.  That post spurred on a few people to ask questions about whether this ebook by the author actually added anything to the original method.

This morning Warrior Forum removed the negative posts.  And in steps more people to discredit and target me for saying anything negative about the product.  People actually went as far as saying that I wasn’t an entrepreneur for posting a negative review.  People said that I ruined the guy’s sales thread.  People actually think that it’s my fault.

But…

I ask you this…  Did I create a product that did not add any value beyond a freely available blog post?  Did I hype my product up with a long sales page and a promotional video?  Did I fill my actual ebook with affiliate links and 15 pages of fluff?

No.  I was the guy who bought this product.  Simple as that.  I don’t owe the author anything.  When I buy things from Warrior Forum or anywhere else for that matter, I am wearing my consumer hat.  I should not be expected to give products and services a good review just because I am a marketer.

So this is a call to action for anyone who uses any forum in Internet marketing!

For some reason, forums like Warrior Forum have led everyone to believe that it is not your right to honestly review products.  They allow products to be sold without question, just as long as the sales page looks professional.

You need to listen to this warning, because it is only going to get worse.  Warrior Forum WSO products are going to start selling more heavily.  The fact that this is a forum sales page/thread, makes these products sell very well.  List owners and other marketers love to promote these products for that reason alone.

Chances are that you are going to be seeing a lot of WSO products in the coming months.  Heck, I can’t even open my email inbox without seeing 2-3 WSOs being promoted every single day.

In closing, I don’t like to sound like a negative ass – but sometimes it is needed.  We both work in a business called Internet marketing.  Some people have made it their business to deceive you in order to make their living.  I personally don’t agree or condone that… and if that doesn’t make me the most popular guy in the room – so be it.

Internet Marketing Garbage 24/7

If you are new to Internet marketing, then this is going to surprise you.  But if you have been around for a week, then this won’t eve phase you.  Today we are talking about Internet marketing garbage and the effect that it has on us as marketers.  NOTE: Get ready to see a lot of quotes in this post because today.  Sarcasm is the only way I can hide how I truly feel about a few people in IM.

When I first got into this business, I was lucky enough to have a few marketers take me under their wing.  However, about 90% of the people trying to make money online are not so lucky.

And why is it that all of these marketers are getting a bad deal?

The going trend in Internet marketing is to get them on the list and sell the poop out of them until the unsubscribe.  Every big marketer has an email list.  Most of them blast their subscribers on a daily basis with a never ending stream of offers, advertisements, “webinars”, “freebies”, and other thinly disguised garbage.

I had to open my eyes to see the truth…

Who better to tell you this than a me?  I had the veil thrown over my eyes while I watched one of the biggest names in online marketing “teach” me how to “make money online.”  A few months into “learning” how to make money on the Internet and build a “real business” I learned what the true method was behind the curtain.

  1. Get people on an email list by acting like you make money online
  2. Sell them products
  3. Make money

Most people in the private forum that this marketer ran were not as lucky as me.  I joined because I wanted to start making MORE money – not because I was starting from square one.

When I figured out what the real method was and all the time that I had wasted with it, it made me physically sick to my stomach.  I had finally gotten a taste of true deceit in Internet marketing and figured out just how bitter these scams truly were.

This guy is still doing his same old thing.  He’s pretending to have “made it” while he is really just trying to figure out how to con everyone into his next big launch.  I know for a fact that he is losing a following because the numbers don’t lie.  The only question is… how man more victims will he and every other marketer like him scam before they meet their demise?

I don’t mean to sound to doom and gloomy today, but I know that a lot of marketers would find some value in what I have to say here.  And just in case you need it spelled out for you, here is a list of tips to ensure that you don’t get duped when looking for a way to make money online:

  • Never buy into a course unless you know exactly how you are going to make money.  Don’t let your gut tell you if the course is good or not.  If the sales page clearly says, you will make money by “doing X to sell Y” then you at least have an idea of how things are going to work.  But if the product sales pages is filled with sports cars, talk about quitting your jobs, stories of how the author finally made it, etc… then avoid it like the plague – it’s just not worth your time.
  • Has anyone every called this guy out on his scam before?  Do a search for the author that you’re about to buy from.  Is anyone talking about how this guy has scammed people in the past?  It’s getting harder and harder to get real information on the Internet, so I suggest using forums to find the facts.
  • Don’t let them put a bag over your head and tell you to hold on.  That might sound funny, but that feeling is all to familiar for a lot of people in Internet marketing.  A lot of gurus will sell you into their courses and then they will keep selling you on the “life that they live”.  You will hear things like “you can be living this life to… you’ve just got to start (insert non-actionable motivational garbage here)”.

In closing, I’m probably going to piss off a lot of people by writing this.  But I really don’t care.  I was nice enough to not use names in this post, but who knows… maybe in the future I will.  If you are the author of an IM course/membership and you are doing any of the above, change your ways – it’s only a matter of time before your empire crumbles and you are seen for what you really are… Internet marketing garbage!

Blind Copy Is A Scammers Best Friend

If you’ve been in Internet marketing for even a day, then you have probably read some blind copy.  What is blind copy?  Well, that is a pretty easy question to answer.

Blind copy is basically when a sales page doesn’t reveal anything but benefits.  It is designed to get you interested in this mystery and then it asks you to pull out your credit card and buy this amazing product that does… well, you don’t know until you buy.

This is actually a well respected form of marketing on the Internet.  Marketers big and small use blind copy for all kinds of product launches.  Just last month, I saw a guy using it to sell a flipping piece of software.  And there is something wrong with that picture when a software creator can’t even say what his software does…

But why is blind copy a scammers best friend?

Blind copy gives the author the ability to sell you anything to anyone.

And here is the problem with what we are talking about:

Jason: “Did you see that new product?  Here’s a link…”

Honest Abe: “Wow, that looks good… but how does it work… how does it make me money?”

Jason: “That’s a good question… let me read that sales page again…”

***

Jason: “hmmm… it doesn’t say how it works… but it must be good if the testimonials say it is… plus look at the income proof…”

Honest Abe: “I’m not so convinced… why can’t the author just say THIS IS HOW IT WORKS?”

Jason: “I don’t know man… I’m going to buy it and I will let you know…”

Honest Abe: “Good luck”

This is the way that so many people get sold into a lie in Internet marketing.  They think that the guy behind the sales page must be honest.  He has testimonials, income proof, and he relates to me.  He must be looking out for me – WRONG!

The number one thing that a good Internet marketer is good at is selling you something.  Remember that next time you read blind copy.
