Shut Up And Buy Your WSO

Many people are not going to like this, but I don’t really care.  Yesterday, I had to open my eyes again to the scams that take place in Internet marketing.  And once again, places like WarriorForum.com proved to be bad places for any form of Internet marketer to learn and expand their business.

A day or so ago, I picked up a WSO which I won’t name out of courtesy.  I read through this thing and by the end I had a few thoughts in my head:

  • That was a lot of hype and fuss over really nothing
  • I remembered seeing a blogger post that same method publicly on his blog about a year ago
  • I wasn’t sure if I should tell other potential buyers about what I knew…

And that last point is what drove me into an interesting turn of events.

You see… I actually did go share my experience over at Warrior Forum.  After posting my review, someone was quick to try to discredit my review.  I chose to go find that blog post from a year ago and share it on the sales thread.  After all, I don’t like to start fights, but I do really care about a few things in Internet marketing.  First off, I am in this business to make money.  That’s not really related lol.  Second, I have friends and business partners in this industry.  Whenever I find a bad product, I send a review via email about it so that my friends don’t get ripped off.  Doing that review via email on a regular basis actually made me start this blog.

But that is all really just back story to show you were I’m coming from here.

Needless to say, Warrior Forum was not very happy that I had posted an informed negative review with a link justifying my point.  That post spurred on a few people to ask questions about whether this ebook by the author actually added anything to the original method.

This morning Warrior Forum removed the negative posts.  And in steps more people to discredit and target me for saying anything negative about the product.  People actually went as far as saying that I wasn’t an entrepreneur for posting a negative review.  People said that I ruined the guy’s sales thread.  People actually think that it’s my fault.

But…

I ask you this…  Did I create a product that did not add any value beyond a freely available blog post?  Did I hype my product up with a long sales page and a promotional video?  Did I fill my actual ebook with affiliate links and 15 pages of fluff?

No.  I was the guy who bought this product.  Simple as that.  I don’t owe the author anything.  When I buy things from Warrior Forum or anywhere else for that matter, I am wearing my consumer hat.  I should not be expected to give products and services a good review just because I am a marketer.

So this is a call to action for anyone who uses any forum in Internet marketing!

For some reason, forums like Warrior Forum have led everyone to believe that it is not your right to honestly review products.  They allow products to be sold without question, just as long as the sales page looks professional.

You need to listen to this warning, because it is only going to get worse.  Warrior Forum WSO products are going to start selling more heavily.  The fact that this is a forum sales page/thread, makes these products sell very well.  List owners and other marketers love to promote these products for that reason alone.

Chances are that you are going to be seeing a lot of WSO products in the coming months.  Heck, I can’t even open my email inbox without seeing 2-3 WSOs being promoted every single day.

In closing, I don’t like to sound like a negative ass – but sometimes it is needed.  We both work in a business called Internet marketing.  Some people have made it their business to deceive you in order to make their living.  I personally don’t agree or condone that… and if that doesn’t make me the most popular guy in the room – so be it.

Internet Marketers: Prepare Yourself And Protect Your Wallet

The trend in today’s Internet marketing world is to get in and get out quick.  Most of us would call this black hat, but the people with that word in mind would be wrong.  Maybe an a** shaped one would fit on these scammers heads a little better.

“Get In.. and Get the Hell Out Quick”

I try to not be a negative nancy when it comes to anything in IM.  In truth, it usually doesn’t help matters when you go around telling people that the sky is falling.  Regretfully, there are exceptions to that rule.  Here are a few:

  • A product creator puts out a crappy product… then he wants people to promote it for him.
  • A guy sells a membership (somewhere like Warrior Forum) and teaches a dead method.
  • People generally trying to hide a clear and evident truth from their buyers about what they are selling.

I basically can’t stay quite when I see someone deceiving people.  But lately, it’s been nearly impossible to keep up.

The Hammer Fell and The Ants Ran For Their Lives

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard about some of the changes that have been taking place in Google.  Lots of people are losing their businesses.  And wouldn’t you guess, these people are looking for a solution to their problems.

Who wouldn’t?

When you see the ground crumbling at your feet, you have an instinct to leap to the next best footing.

But be warned… there are wolves in sheep’s clothing in Internet Marketing.  These guys are some of the most well respected Internet marketers.  And no, these are not necessarily the guys with big email lists (gurus).  A lot of these people are just well respected forum members on places such as Warrior Forum.

What I have seen lately is that a lot of these people are selling courses that claim to be the: “fix” for the Panda update, the cure to your business failing, the magic pill to get you on track, and so on.

And what did I find when I bought a few of these courses?  Just what I would expect…

Old re-hashed methods.  Blackhat linking schemes.  General information on SEO.  Everything you could find for free if you used Google to do a simple search.

Some of these guys are telling you that you’ll rank on page one of Google through spamming software directories with your link.

Other marketers are teaching methods that DON’T EVEN WORK FOR THEM!

Open Your Eyes…

The goal of this post is not to call out any specific marketers – even though I could give you a fairly long list.  Instead, I want to give you a bit of advice (well, actually a few pieces of advice):

  • NEVER trust someone online just because other people trust them.  A lot of people in Internet marketing are like sheep.  They buy a product for a couple hundred dollars and then make themselves believe that it works – who cares about results, it must be you that is the problem… WRONG!
  • NEVER trust someone who assumes that the know everything about SEO.  SEO is an interesting industry.  It’s really just a game of guessing for most people.  Most people who sell courses are not teaching you what has been tested, tweaked, and tested again.  They are teaching you what they read on a forum, something some other guy tried, or they re-wrote another course.
  • DON’T buy something on Warrior Forum or anywhere else just because people say that it is great.  I’ve looked through a lot of WSOs and most of the time, people are just saying things like “thanks for making this $7.00″.  What is wrong with that picture?
  • CONSIDER the source – most marketers are not practicing what they preach.  Many big marketers are selling out their email lists to any product that pays more than $500 per sale regardless of what the product is.  Other marketers are selling non-working methods.  Approach everything with a skeptical eye and don’t be too quick to let your guard down.  Refund on your purchase if the product doesn’t work!

Well, I hope that I gave you something to think about.  If you’re in Internet marketing, then you have are living in the toughest time in this industry.  Your fellow marketers are probably not your friends.  Most of them are so desperate to make money from you, that they’d sell out at the right price.

Enough said for now
